History, Vision and Mission
Wind River Health Systems was created by the joint ventures of many concerned parties and agencies in Fremont County. With a large community of under-served citizens, it was clear that something was needed to take care of the growing uninsured persons living in the area. People who could not get in to see a local provider who go to the local Emergency Room for non-emergent care.

In 2007, through a joint tribal agreement, Wind River Health Systems was chartered through the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Indian tribes. In October 2007, Wind River Health Systems was awarded grant funding through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to open a clinic in Riverton, Wyoming. With this funding, we were able to pay for start up costs for our new clinic and have some funds to pay for those patients we would soon be seeing that could not otherwise afford to pay for their care.

In April 2009, we acquired the Dubois Medical Clinic under our federal grant. Due to the proximity of their clinic to ours, it was deemed a better fit for us to bring the clinic under our wings. This has been a wonderful partnership for both of our clinics and has expanded our services making care more convenient and accessible.

WRHS has grown quickly over the past two years with over 7,000 patients now calling us their medical home. In 2010, we hope to open our Dental Suite providing onsite dental care to our current patients and future patients.
